Bath night out: an insider’s guide
A Bath night out is a must for anyone visiting our fair city who enjoys some after dark revelry. Despite its small size, Bath has plenty to offer those in pursuit of a late night’s partying, from swanky cocktails bars to dingy live music venues.
All Panda Sanctuaries’ Bath holiday homes are within an easy 10 to 15 minute stroll of Bath city centre, where all the best bars, clubs and venues can be found, so you’ll never have to worry about a long journey home.
So, put on your dancing shoes and make your way towards one of the following:
Walcot House
For a swanky night out in Bath, head to Walcot House on a Friday or Saturday evening to enjoy live music followed by fantastic DJ sets until late. This elegant bar and club which opened in 2018 in a beautifully converted old bakery, boasts a long marble top bar serving delicious cocktails and tables set around a stage which are cleared at 10pm to allow the dancing to take over. Open until 3am on Saturdays.
Circo Bar and Lounge
During the week, an elegant cocktail bar where visitors can luxuriate on Chesterfield sofas, Circo comes alive at the weekend with revellers looking for fine cocktails and a boogie. Boasting on of the most extensive back bars in Bath, Circo produces its own bitters, infusions, juices and purees, which its mixologists handle with finesse while the four room vaulted cellar it occupies makes a great dancefloor. Open until 3am at weekends.
Sub 13
If you’re planning at Bath night out, this stylish cocktail bar set over three floors of a Georgian townhouse is a great choice. Each floor offers something slightly different: Sip on an expertly mixed tipple in one of the intimate alcoves of the basement bar, head up to the lighter airy ground floor Gin Bar overlooking Milsom Street or go al fresco in the beautifully lit courtyard garden with its Perrier-Jouët Champagne terrace bar. Open until midnight on week days, 2am on Fridays and 3am on Saturdays.
The Nest
Live music and DJs entertain crowds thronging the dance floor downstairs while upstairs you can sit and enjoy a drink and a chat. Hosts a wide range of music from rock to house and drum and base so look out for a night that tickles your fancy. Open until 3am on Tuesdays through to Saturday.
The Common Room
This quirky independent bar, hidden behind the Assembly Rooms, offers visitors a well-stocked bar, cool décor and a tiny dancefloor for those keen to boogie. On the first floor you can relax in an intimate lounge bar, referred to, tongue in cheek, as ‘Hef’s Bar’ while DJs entertain the rabble downstairs until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays, 2am the rest of the week.
Moles
This tiny underground live music venue which occupies a series of dingy cellar vaults has hosted everyone from Radiohead to Oasis during its 40 years history. A Bath institution, Moles has become one of the city’s best loved late night hang outs. Moles has bands playing six nights a week.
Komedia
Komedia is a magical blend of nightclub, theatre, live music venue, cinema, cafe and gallery. On any given night there is guaranteed to be something fun happening, be it stand-up comedy or cabaret often followed by dancing late into the night at the weekend.
Po Na Na
A staple of the Bath clubbing scene, this Moroccan themed haunt in a cellar bar plays everything from rock and 90s classics to dance anthems and generally caters to a younger student crowd with cheap entry and drinks deals. Open until 3am Mondays to Saturdays.
