Toll Keeper’s House

Built into the side of Bath’s historic Cleveland Bridge, looking out over the River Avon, this Regency property offers guests a truly unique experience.

Originally a toll house, dating from 1827, the two-bedroom city centre property is built over three floors. The interior has been beautifully refurbished to provide comfort and convenience while preserving its traditional charm.

The house has a garden sloping down to the water’s edge which boasts a terrace and summerhouse perfect for al fresco meals or evening drinks.

The ground-floor kitchen dining room’s large French windows open out onto the terrace creating a feeling of light and space. The fully equipped kitchen includes an induction hob, microwave, fan oven, dishwasher and washer-drier, with a dining table and dining sets for up to six people.

Above the kitchen is the master-bedroom with a super-king size bed that can be split into two twins and ensuite bathroom. Next door is a second bedroom with double bed.

On the third floor is a cosy living room with a 42-inch TV and an extra wall double bed which can be laid out to accommodate two more guests. A second shared bathroom with a shower can also be found here.

Wifi is available throughout the house.

Testimonials

This is an incredible property – in a bridge! It’s beautiful inside and out. The terrace and boathouse overlooking the river is a particularly lovely spot. I’d highly recommend a stay here which is definitely a unique experience.

Immaculate property. So quirky and unique (my kids 5 and 8 loved staying in a bridge!). Great Base to explore lovely Bath. Ana has thought of everything. Highly recommend.

This toll house is perfect! It is a short walk into the centre of Bath. But the house is lovely, from the small fireplace in the lounge to the large kitchen space on the bottom floor. We will be re booking this place again after our stay.
