Eco-friendly accommodation with Panda Sanctuaries
Here at Panda Sanctuaries we are passionate about preserving our wonderful planet and all the amazing animals and plants we share it with. With this in mind we work hard to ensure all our luxury self-catering accommodation in Bath is as eco-friendly as possible and to minimise the environmental impact of all aspects of the business.
Here are some steps we’ve taken to create more eco-friendly holiday properties and boost our other green credentials:
The Panda-mobile
Driving between our Bath holiday properties is unavoidable – to meet and greet guests, clean the properties, deliver fresh laundry and supplies – so we’ve invested in a brand fully electric BMW i3 to dramatically cut our carbon footprint.
Green energy
All our Bath holiday homes are all on the Octopus Super Green energy tariff which uses 100 per cent renewable energy for the electricity and provides 100 per cent carbon offsetting for gas used. To find out more – and get £15 cashback when you sign up – go to https://share.octopus.energy/fair-snow-653.
Recycling, cleaning and appliances
We recycle as much as possible and encourage our guests to do the same. All our Bath self-catering properties are supplied with recycling bins and, while we very much appreciate it if guests separate their recycling correctly, our team will sort through recycling where necessary ahead of collection. All our laundry products are eco-friendly and all appliances are A+ energy rated.
Uniforms and toiletries
Our uniforms are made from sustainable materials in an ethically accredited, wind powered factory. The toiletries provided in our self-catering cottges and flats use 100% recycled bottles and fulfil strict biodegradability requirements that minimize the impact on aquatic ecosystems.
Support the giant pandas
We love pandas! Can you tell?! So we wanted to do our bit in saving this beautiful and majestic animal from the growing threat of extinction. We started by sponsoring one of the 1,864 giant pandas living in the wild through the World Wildlife Fund. The panda lives in the Qinling mountains in China, where a huge new national park is being planned to help protect the wild giant panda population. To continue raising money for these wonderful creatures, we’ve placed donation boxes in all our properties. Anyone who contributes £1 or more is encouraged to take one of our panda mugs home with them as a small souvenir at the end of their stay.
Panda competition time!
More recently we also become sponsors to the only giant pandas in the UK – Tian Tian (Sweetie) and Yang Guang (Sunshine) who are based at Edinburgh Zoo, in the stunning Scottish capital. To celebrate this, we are launching a competition to win two tickets to Edinburgh. All you need to do is like our Facebook page then like and share our Facebook post about this blog on your own wall, and tag the friend you would like to bring along. * A winner will be selected at random towards the end of March.
*Terms and conditions: The zoo tickets are valid until 14th November 2018, subject to the zoo’s own opening hours and conditions. Applicants must be 18 or over.
