But first, if you need to book a location for your party, here’s a brief round-up of some of the best places for private hire in Bath:
Bath’s regency party venues:
For those wanting a grand setting for larger parties, or to feel like you’ve wandered into a Jane Austen novel, you can rent one of Bath’s stunning Georgian buildings including:
The Assembly Rooms – arguably the original Bath party venue, built for entertainment in 1771, this was Bath’s social hub during the Regency era. It remains a fantastic location for parties, conferences, weddings and other private events. The Ball Room can host up to 280 guests for dinner, with space left for a dance floor, or hire the whole building which has capacity for up to 420 people.
The Guildhall – this beautiful 1775 property adorned with fine art has several rooms to hire for different scale events from the ornate Banqueting Room which can seat up to 200 for dinner to the more intimate Aix-en-Provence Room. You can even hire out the Council Chamber for meetings and weddings.
The Pump Room – another triumph of Georgian architecture and interiors, the Pump Room remains largely unchanged since its unveiling by the Duchess of York in 1795, with the natural ‘spa’ water flowing from its fountain. It is a wonderful setting for a large event or party with a stage for live music and a good dance floor for the more energetic guests.
An even more historic setting:
The Roman Baths – imagine sipping on your drink while looking down into the Great Bath itself, lit by flickering torches. Well if you hire out the Roman Baths, you can do exactly that. Clearly the Baths are not suited to every type of event but make a fantastic location for a drinks reception – some people even get married there. The Roman Baths and Pump Room together were voted the UK’s Best Historic Wedding Venue in 2017.
